A couple kissed on Fifth Avenue near the stone lions of the library.
The streetlight changed and they parted at the corner. The woman got in a cab. The man walked west, towards the long line of red taillights on 42nd Street.
A neon sign sputtered in the darkness
~ from "Emily," by Marco North
This week Home and Escape continues with tales of New York City and Utopia. Marco North's story, Emily, is a series of vignettes revealing longing and isolation in urban interactions; in A Fig Tree Grows in Brooklyn, poet LindaAnn Loschiavo describes the creation of an organic link between old and new worlds. And poet Maureen Tolman Flannery captures one vision of Utopia.
For those of you who have queried, we have closed poetry submissions until 2003, but are accepting works in other genres for Cities, Work, and Secrets.
Best,
nada
