the release of faith, luck, and chance

On the Page held a reading on Sunday, November 4, 2007, at the Stain Bar, 766 Grand Street, Williamsburg, in Brooklyn, New York. The event was a great success, thanks to a fabulous group of readers, including Jacqueline Heinze, John Dylan Keith, Laura McGinley, and Jenny Rider.

We launched our fourteenth issue with a reading as part of the 2007 Litquake San Francisco Literary Festival (October 6-13, 2007). On the Page was featured at the Lit Crawl on Saturday, October 13, at Mission Laundromat, 3282 22nd Street. A big thanks to readers Blair Campbell, Deborah Crooks, and John Dylan Keith, whose voices and stories successfully overcame the oddities of the venue, including the malfunctioning microphone and unstoppable top-40 soundtrack.

celebrating unfinished business

On October 14, 2006, On the Page celebrated the release of our thirteenth issue, unfinished business, with a reading as part of the Litquake San Francisco Literary Festival (October 614, 2006). On the Page was featured at the Lit Crawl on Saturday, October 14, at Dog Eared Books on 900 Valencia Street.

Thank you to readers Andrea Coombes, Jacob Kornbluth and Samantha Schoech for making our first Litquake reading such a success!

pre-release party

On June 28, 2005, On the Page held a cocktail party at Swig in San Francisco. Over 75 people gathered to help us celebrate the pre-release of our premiere print issue on shared spaces.

The festivities featured work by photographer Greg Roden (www.grphoto.net), whose photos of San Francisco dive bars highlight our current issue. Among other activities, our guests named their favorite places in the city and suggested possible themes for future issues of On the Page.

kgb reading

On May 22, 2001, we held our first New York City event, a reading at the KGB Bar. We had a packed SRO house for contributors Colin Berry, Susan Scheid, Emily Koehn, and Todd Schindler. The reading suggested the diversity of style and content of On the Page. Works addressed topics of death and memory, sexual identity and lust, bowling and intimacy, the film Chocolat and Mayor Giuliani's crusade against the Brooklyn Museum.

adult adolescence celebration

On April 26, 2001, about 100 folks attended our Adult Adolescence Party at the Balazo Mission Badlands Gallery in San Francisco. Extra Ghost provided the music to entertain guests who entered photos of their adolescent selves in our contests, responded to a survey on growing up, viewed a collection of photographs on Turning Twelve by Caroline Berry, mingled, and generally had a good time.

pre-launch party

On November 18, 2000, On the Page held its first event at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, where over 100 members of our extended literary family celebrated the new magazine and contributed to the site by drawing buffalo, naming favorite authors, suggesting future themes, and creating a lexicon of words to get off the page.

The festivities also featured live music from the San Francisco-based band Extra Ghost and work by Bay Area photographers, including a presentation of slides by Mimi Chakarova.
